The NIT Hungary Kft., together with its partner organisation, has taken joint action against the abolition of the market surveillance fee and the extension of the 5% reduced VAT. Hopefully, they discussed with Bálint Nagy, the State Secretary, in a substantive way!
The rules for the introduction of the market surveillance fee started to be laid down and developed by experts 10 years ago. Since then, interest groups have been constantly objecting to the fee! This bus authority has no substantive powers over operators of special bus services, but only apparent powers. The problem and the sector’s request are explained in the attached letter from the NIT! In addition to the payment of the market surveillance fee, it is also incomprehensible that the Government Decree of May 2023, which provides for the reduction of the VAT on the hop-on hop-off special regular service to 5%! The aim is to “whitewash” the economy! This exclusivity does not make sense, it is the Hungarian children of Hungarian families who are excluded from class trips and travel with lower travel costs. After all, we know that there is a particularly high demand for this service, especially in seasonal periods, but the solvent demand is low. This leaves the ‘white’ companies at a competitive disadvantage and favours the grey areas. Extending the 5% VAT obligation to domestic coach excursions would solve the problem. No substantive response to this request has been received yet, this season has already ended and we look forward to the next one!
